Director, Global Talent Acquisition, Delta Air Lines

Prior to joining Delta Air Lines as the Director of Global Talent Acquisition,  Carol served as the Director of Talent Acquisition with Johns Hopkins Health System, where she oversaw, directed, and managed a team of 10 in the recruitment process for one of the most progressive organizations in the healthcare industry to meet the needs of a demanding pediatric hospital under the Johns Hopkins Health System.

After serving in the United States Air Force for ten years, McDaniel’s experience in the Talent Acquisition Industry began in Olsten Staffing, Lucent Technologies as a corporate recruiter, and she worked for Bernard Hodes Group for 12 years working with organizations to put Talent acquisition strategies in place. Her background combines extensive Human Resource consulting, recruiting, marketing and advertising expertise. With her strong understanding of the many challenges in today’s competitive labor market environment, she is considered a subject matter expert in the employer marketing and branding process. This expertise has proved to play a crucial role in the development of talent management and acquisition strategies.  She has been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and NBC Night News for her innovative strategies in “Geo-Fencing” and Re-targeting” in the Talent Acquisition arena. Carol sits on the Talent Acquisition Special Expertise Panel for the Society of Human Resource Management as an advisor and contributor to SHRM’s talent initiatives.  Carol is a frequent speaker at HR and SHRM events, national programs, and training seminars to focus on the areas of talent acquisition and talent communications.

Katie Bernhart Cushing has spent the last 15 years helping organizations achieve their goals by attracting, evaluating, and acquiring top talent. She’s created effective strategies and programs in consultation with business leaders and has led global teams through periods of transformation and growth. She has guided leaders through the increasingly complex talent marketplace with a pragmatic, transparent, and results-focused approach.

Katie began her career in talent acquisition at Celent, a financial technology research and consulting firm, now part of Oliver Wyman. A love of journalism led her to Jim Cramer’s TheStreet, a digital provider of financial news, and then to AOL, where she focused on talent acquisition for The Huffington Post , TechCrunch, and other AOL editorial businesses. Katie also led the buildout of the digital and creative teams at Weber Shandwick, a Cannes Lions
award-winning digital consumer engagement agency, and has consulted for several New York-based startups, including Warby Parker and Betterment.

Most recently, she served as the Global Head of Talent Acquisition for Getty Images, a leading creator and distributor of award-winning still imagery , video , music and multimedia products. At Getty Images, Katie was responsible for setting talent acquisition strategy in support of business-critical initiatives around the world. She led teams through major technology initiatives, built out digital marketing, demand generation, and data science capabilities, and hired top sales and editorial talent around the world.

Katie holds a BA from the University of North Carolina, an MBA from Mercer University, and an MA from New York University.
